Project Details:

  • Two existing prestressed concrete girder bridges with concrete pier caps and abutment seats bearing on HP piles.

  • Bridges on horizontal curve, resulting in variable span lengths and bridge width.

  • Six spans of variable length; 83’-10” to 88’-0”.

  • Bridge width average of 54’ for two lanes of traffic.

  • Girder number and spacing varies from span to span.

  • Rehabilitation design to:

    • replace bridge deck and barrier railings.

    • convert existing simply supported bridge to continuous for HS-20 live loading.

    • due to irregular spacing of girders, no pier diaphragms will be used.

    • detail to break bond between the girders and deck at the piers will be used to allow deck continuity.

    • replace/repair concrete at abutment diaphragms, pier caps and wingwalls.

    • construct new approach slabs.

    • replace existing bearings and reuse existing girders.

    • provide new bridge joint seals at deck slab.

    • install new drainage rundowns and deck drains
