Project Details:
Two existing prestressed concrete girder bridges with concrete pier caps and abutment seats bearing on HP piles.
Bridges on horizontal curve, resulting in variable span lengths and bridge width.
Six spans of variable length; 83’-10” to 88’-0”.
Bridge width average of 54’ for two lanes of traffic.
Girder number and spacing varies from span to span.
Rehabilitation design to:
replace bridge deck and barrier railings.
convert existing simply supported bridge to continuous for HS-20 live loading.
due to irregular spacing of girders, no pier diaphragms will be used.
detail to break bond between the girders and deck at the piers will be used to allow deck continuity.
replace/repair concrete at abutment diaphragms, pier caps and wingwalls.
construct new approach slabs.
replace existing bearings and reuse existing girders.
provide new bridge joint seals at deck slab.
install new drainage rundowns and deck drains
