Project Description:

  • Existing steel girder bridge with concrete pier caps and abutment seats bearing on pipe piles.

  • Bridge over roadway.

  • Rehabilitation design:

    • replaced bridge deck and barrier railings,

    • replaced steel girders with precast, prestressed concrete girders.

    • replaced concrete at abutment diaphragms, pier caps and wingwalls,

    • constructed new approach slabs.

    • replaced steel rocker bearings with new neoprene bearing pads.

    • replaced existing expansion devices with bridge joint seals.
  • New 2’ tall prestressed concrete girders were specially designed to avoid having to raise the existing road grade or needing to use steel girders.
  • Three spans; 41’-6”, 52’-9” and 41’-6” in length for an overall bridge length of 142’.

  • Continuous for HS-20 live loading.

  • Bridge width of 82’ for two 12’ lanes of traffic and outside shoulders.
