Mr. Powell is a native New Mexican and graduated from New Mexico State University. While earning his Master’s Degree, he conducted experimental research on an emerging structural technology, ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). The joint research project led to the design and implementation of a UHPC bridge that is continuously monitored for long-term behavioral analysis.
During his 2 years of structural design experience, Mr. Powell has he gained experience in the design of structures as well as the retrofitting of existing structures to meet current standards. He has gained proficiency in three-dimensional finite element modeling as well as the use of software analysis/design tools such as Enercalc, MATLAB, and Hilti PROFIS. His knowledge of design codes and standards includes but is not limited to AISC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, NDS, and AISI.
